Here are the little beauties.
But I like spritzers in the summer because they are a light, refreshing, cool drink that is not loaded with empty calories. Because it’s made with seltzer water there ARE no calories... until you start adding stuff to it, that is. :) like fresh lemons and raspberry syrup.
This looks refreshing and cooling, doesn’t it?
and this..
I started with seltzer water, added some raspberries, a squirt of fresh lemon juice, and raspberry syrup to taste. Fill with ice. Garnish with lemon slices and raspberries. Easy. Quick. Refreshing.
Raspberry Syrup for drinks:
1 cup of raspberries
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar – add more sugar if you like it sweet. Some recipes online call for equal amounts of raspberries and sugar.
Gently simmer for 10 minutes. I didn’t strain mine but you could. (Martha Stewart ‘s recipe called for straining the syrup – she’s probably right but I like to do things fast so .. that didn’t happen). :)
Cool the syrup. Keep refrigerated.
Another raspberry sauce to try:
3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. raspberries
3/4 c. water
Simmer ingredients over low heat for 5 minutes. Strain. Keep refrigerated.
Optional: 1/2 c. raspberry liqueur
OR
you could buy Monin Raspberry Syrup like my sister does. She just gives a squirt of this syrup into her iced tea and it’s great – always available and it’s used at Macaroni Grill for their raspberry iced tea so it’s gotta be good. Yummy.
At any rate....
ENJOY!
