OLD SHUTTERS AS CHRISTMAS DOOR DECORATIONS
These are the old shutters. Well, not exactly. These are some of the old shutters. The one I used for the door decoration I didn't get a picture of. Duh!
But this was another set I bought.
I used Rustoleum Colonial Red Satin spray paint. I tried a different red that was a little TOO red and I didn't want the satin finish. I wanted a flat spray paint but Home Depot didn't have it and I'm pretty okay with a little bit of a sheen. I used sandpaper to rub off some of the paint, too.
I went to Joann's and found an evergreen spray with hanging pine cones. Really, all I had to do was wire it on the shutter.
How easy was that?
Be on the lookout for these shutters. They are not the outdoor ones. They are the ones that people put INSIDE the house on windows like privacy curtains. They close them at night and open them in the day. My Mom still has them in her bathroom. But I guess they are falling out of popularity since I've been seeing them at garage sales. You may have some in YOUR basement...

Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteShutters are also great for displaying your Christmas cards along with so many other uses.
Whenever I can buy some cheap, I grab them up and save for later use.
