Veggies for Valentine's Day
I've got some Valentine sweets planned for this week so I wanted to balance all the sugar with some healthy food... but CUTE healthy food.. Valentine food...
At least we can get in some healthy food before we delve into all that Valentine's candy and cake, right?
My daughter, Laura, who is an artsy girl herself made the tomato "heart" by cutting a tomato slice in half and arranging it in the shape of a heart. In between the two slices she placed a little cream cheese (it would have been fresh mozzarella cheese if we had any).
She made little arrows out of celery sticks and green peppers and filled the celery sticks with cream cheese. Yummy. A little paprika adds some Valentine color, also.
A little printed out sign that says,
"Be mine" makes it a Valentine, too.
When I was a kid, I had a friend whose parents brought her home a paper umbrella from somewhere they had gone the night before. I just loved the way the little umbrella opened and closed and was so delicate and cute. I didn't have one. .I felt the yearning for one of these little umbrellas. I can remember now how much I wanted one of these little umbrellas so much I could taste it. Now I have a bag of these cuties. :)
