Faux Corn on the Cob
I love fun foods so when I saw this fun thing on Martha Stewart's site, I knew I had to do it.. hers was covered with jelly beans, though, and I wanted to make mine as a cheese ball snack with chips so I had to think about what might be small and sort of yellow colored. I finally settled on toasted soybeans. I made the cheese ball and then formed the ball into a corn on the cob shape. Once I started placing the soybeans in a row on the "cob" it started to look real. Then the fun started.
I just love looking at it, too. It's a fun thing. :)
Recipe for Faux Corn on the Cob
1 - 8 oz. package of cream cheese
1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese (could be Pepper Jack cheese, too)
toasted soy beans
dash of hot sauce
2 corn cob holders to complete the look
Mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese and dash of hot sauce and form into corn on the cob shape. Place one soybean at a time onto the cheese ball. Continue placing soybeans like they are corn kernels in rows until the whole cheese ball is covered. It sounds more tedious than it is. It went very fast. Place the 2 corn cob holders in each end to complete the look...
Here is what it looks like when it's opened for the party...
Here is the cute and yummy snowman cheeseball, too.
