Last year Michele (niece) came up with the idea of making snowmen out of miniature dried gourds. So she did a search on the internet and found a place to get the small dried gourds. We painted them white and put on little cut fabric scarves and orange pipecleaner noses. The hardest part was making the hats out of black felt. We cut two round circles of black felt for the brim and cut a hole in the center of each and glued them together. Then we cut a rectangle of black felt for the crown . Then we took the rectangle and twisted it around to form the crown and glued it together. Then we glued this part into the circular hole we made in the center of the circles. It sounds worse than it is but we made a LOT of them since we always have to give them to family members. It sped right along with good company though.
