Pumpkin Fun Number One

I’ve had this idea to do 30 days of decorated, fabric pumpkins. My daughter, Kristy, is here with her baby and I corralled her into helping me to decorate this tulle pumpkin. She gave me some great ideas.
There is a REAL white pumpkin underneath this tulle.

I met a girl in Joann Fabrics the other day and she helped me pick out lots of fabric to cover and or decorate my pumpkins with. Thanks, Michele!!! Wow. Did we have fun or what!!  Going all around Joann’s looking for fabrics was the highlight of my day (or week for that matter).  She was heaven sent, I know that, because I was stalled ….
I had some fabrics picked out but I wasn’t that happy with the selection.
This is how we hooked up. I had a whole basket full of fabrics and was traveling down an aisle where Michele was. She mistook me for a salesperson and asked if there was any white crepe fabric (can’t remember the exact kind of fabric she wanted). I, in my effort to help, did try to direct her to some fabrics. Eventually, I said I didn’t work there. However, by that time we had a dialogue going.
I told her I had a blog and that I wanted to make fabric pumpkins.
She took right off down the aisle and said,
“This is what you need” and “now doesn’t this pop?”.
We went up and down the aisles assessing each and every fabric. I haven’t had this much fun in SO long. None of my kids or friends want to bother with what I do on the blog and here was someone I just met who was helping me and enjoying herself, too. YAY!! I took her email
and gave her my blog address.
My last words to her were,
“What are we going to do for Christmas?”
Over the next month and a half I’ll show all that we came up with. Hope you enjoy these pumpkins!
How’d I make this? I bunched up tulle around a REAL PUMPKIN and stuck pins through the fabric right into the pumpkin (probably going to make it rot quicker but it looks great and it was super fast!). I added some real morning glory leaves and a big gold bow. Wala!

Collages made with PhotoScape (a free program – it’s great!!)
