Crystal Mantel Décor
My daughter, Laura, and I have been working on mantels, all the mantels in the family, mine, hers, my Mom’s, a neighbor’s…. well, you get the idea. We are on a jag, a mantel decorating jag and I am having a ball!! It’s so much fun to decorate mantels and I just discovered this. I have had the same thing on my mantel for years, Christmas houses that light up. Years ago it was very fashionable to have the lit up houses, especially the Dicken’s houses and all the little people on sleds and skating, etc. I really liked it. It wasn’t until this year that I’ve had the desire to change it.
And my Mom wanted something different from the Carolers that she always has on her mantel every Christmas. Since I was on a mantel craze, I got right into it. Here is the result of Mom’s mantel Christmas makeover.
She had some things we used for the mantel like these pretty crystal candlesticks.
The pretty white terrarium in the back is on a giveaway right now. Go HERE to enter. It’s only the second giveaway we have ever had. It’s really pretty. I bought three of them, one for the giveaway. What could be nicer?
Here is one of the Christmas light up houses I used to have on MY mantel. I sprayed it white and put glitter all over it. Nice, huh?
Here is the White Terrarium on a Giveaway – did you enter yet? Go HERE if you want. Anyone would be happy to get this. Really.
This is a little church inside the white terrarium. I love it so much. Guess where I got the little ceramic church? Yup, the dollar store…. for $1. It was painted all colors but I sprayed it white and glitterized it. (that’s a new word I made up since I’ve been putting glitter on everything the last few weeks). In fact, as I’m driving along I look at the trees and I’m glittering them in my mind. ha ha
I fooled around with this wreath picture in Picassa. It looks dreamy, doesn’t it? Mom had this wreath which she uses every year and I sprayed the greens white and glitterized it. I left the roses pink …
I made this arrangement for the center of the table and then had the bright idea it would look awesome on Mom’s mantel so there it sits. It’s perfect, I think.
Here it is next to the little white gazebo. Mom had the gazebo in the guest bedroom but it looks so darn cute on her mantel with the little tree inside.
I was shopping in Joann Fabrics and saw this JOY sign and immediately knew it would be perfect for Mom’s mantel. I had already taken pictures of the mantel without it but, well, you get the idea. It’s nice.
Here’s Michele, niece, taking pictures of Mom in front of her mantel.
Mom and her new mantel…
Final picture of the mantel.
I hope you enjoyed looking at these pictures of Mom’s mantel. Can you tell I’m so proud of it? And that I had so much fun fixing it up? Mom is SO HAPPY about it, too. I told her it’s her Christmas present and she said, “That’s great!”. So there you go.
Wishing everyone a happy Christmas Season!
