Old Bench Redo
Have an old bench?
Look what can be done with it!
I think this was an old vanity bench that someone painted white. It’s a little chippy and I like that so I left it.
I took this bench....
and this old wooden tray (from a tag sale)...
and made this for my granddaughter’s bed:
Isn’t it gorgeous? The tray fit exactly right! It’s one of those projects that work out perfectly and easily. Wow. I wanted to keep it for myself but ... Faith liked it so much...
I have to look for one for me now.... tagging starts soon. YAY!
I snagged my nephew, Mike, into cutting off the legs on the bench. Here he is measuring...
Here is the leg cut off.
Here are the sawed off legs that we decided we are saving for another project.
Next up: Cover the seat cushion.
It was easy to cover. I picked some colors that Faith liked, the pretty aqua and pinks.
I have an electric staple gun now (tag sale) and I love it.
Here is how I did the corners..
I forgot to get a picture of the wooden tray after it was painted white. Darn. Well, you can see it atop the bench, anyway. It came out great and now my granddaughter can have her little light and a snack and a drink and read her book (or use her Ipod – that was her big Christmas gift) and she can be all snuggly in her bed...
My daughter added curtains to Faith’s bunk bed for a super snuggly, cozy feel. Here the curtains are open..
Here they are closed. She left the end open for the ladder going up to the top bunk (and maybe for some air. :)
Here’s Laura getting the bed ready for pictures...
My granddaughter’s slippers were photo worthy so I did just that – took a photo. Love ‘em. Little teddy bear slippers. Cute.
My granddaughter is taking after her mother (Laura, the Greenhouse Girl). She’s starting seeds...
One more look at the pretty shabby bench turned into bed tray table.
I can’t wait to find another one and remake it for MYSELF!
Have you ever redone an old piece of furniture? Were you happy with it?
Best wishes, to you all for a wonderful weekend. It’s supposed to be beautiful weather here in Connecticut! YAY! Way overdo. Today we had another 6 inches of snow. I SO want Spring.

Wow - that is such a great idea and so adorable!! Thanks for linking up at Romance on a dime!! Pinning this.
ReplyDeleteI'd never have thought to do such a thing - very clever! I saw a similar tray but with a flat top at Anthropologie last winter, but it was only a prop, and I couldn't talk them into selling it to me. What a lovely gift for a granddaughter!
