Gosh, this was fun and there's nothing to it. The nice thing is that there is leftover candy from this project.
:)
I bought a bag of caramels and melted them in a small bowl in the microwave along with 2 tablespoons of water to thin it out a little.
I had some pop sticks...
Then, and here's the fun part, we crushed up candy (Butterfingers, Milky Ways, corn candies, and peanuts) and we had them all in separate bowls almost like an ice cream bar with different toppings.
So it was just a matter of washing the apples, drying them, putting the apple on a pop stick, dipping it into caramels and then rolling it around in whatever crushed candies you want.
We could have gone a LOT more crazy with getting lots of different candies but then I'd just settled for 4 different ones including peanuts ...
Quickly (and I mean fast) - once the apple is dipped into the caramel - QUICKLY dip into the different crushed candy bowls or the caramel will dry and not be able to pick up the candy. (don't ask me how I know this).
Finished product!
YAY!
I love caramel. Is this mouth watering or what?
Kris wanted to do one with just crushed peanuts...
Close up of the caramel apple..
This was a really easy, fast, and fun project. Faith, my granddaughter, couldn't make it but our neighbors, Elaine and her daughter, Lindsay, came over also to join in the fun.
Hope you can have some Fall fun making some kind of candy apples... it really kicked the season off for us. Thanks for viewing, my friends.
