What to do With All that Popcorn?

Why, wrap it up and serve it for New Year's, of course.

Here's what I did..

Anybody get some of these for Christmas? We got 2...

I put popcorn, M & M's, and a Reese's Mini into each "peanut" cup and put them in a cellophane bag. A pretty festive bow is the finishing touch.

Here is a tutorial about how to make a bowl from an old vinyl record from Fran at Skulls and Ponies. The way she made hers is a little more intense than the way I  made mine.

I put a bowl in the oven at about 300 degrees.. Then put the record on top of the bowl. Within about 15 seconds you will see the record start to droop around the bowl. Really. It is important how the record "droops" because you want it to be rather symmetrical but it wasn't an issue for me. The two bowls I made came out great. It's incredibly fast.

The records I bought at a tag sale for $1. so I didn't mind "melting" them.

All set for the party. The kids will like this, too.

Try melting a vinyl record yourself. It's great fun and it's fun to show people ... (how did you DO that?)

Best wishes,

Happy New Year

  1. That is such a neat idea! My dad was a top 40 DJ back in the late 60's/early 70's so I have an inherited love of vinyl. He still has a lot of records (and a record player, of course)--so I'd have to be choosy with the records I decided to melt down!!!
Thanks for sharing today on the Daily Blog Boost!

  2. Hi Linda! I'm stopping in from Let's Get Real today. These treats are so festive. Such a wonderfu presentation too. I have lots of Boy Scout popcorn I should think about giving away. Super Bowl party maybe? Hmmm.........you've got me thinking. I need some football ribbon.

  3. That record bowl is a really fun idea!! I'm laughing at your popcorn predicament. We're a Cub Scout family and spent most of this fall selling popcorn for camp. I sympathize with your problem, though with 5 kids popcorn doesn't last long around here. Thanks for sharing at Family Fun Friday!
