Heart Shaped Cherry Hand Pies
EASY PEASY Heart Shaped Cherry Hand Pies
This goes really fast because I buy the refrigerated pie crust and use canned cherry pie filling (love that stuff). I unrolled the pie crust - you get TWO of them rolled up in the box - think of the fun, the things you can make! I rolled out the crust just a little bit. It can't be too thin for these hand pies or they will not have enough substance to be held in your hand.
You need 2 heart cookie cutters, a large one and a small one, which I bought at Michael's Crafts. They came in a container of Valentine cookie cutters. There was even an "X" and "O" cookie cutter.
Cut out large hearts from the pie crust. Then use a small heart cookie cutter to cut a heart out of the center of half of the large pie crust hearts. They will be the top crust so you can see the delectable cherries inside the pie.
Place a few tablespoons of cherry pie filling onto each whole heart crust. Cover with the heart crust that has the small heart cut out of the center and press down all around the edge of the pie with a fork. That seals the edges so that the cherry doesn't drip out.
Dab some milk or egg white onto the crust (that gives the crust a nice golden color )and bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. They do not take long to cook.
Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
Wow. These are nice. They are crispy and light and oh, so delicious.
This is nice for any occasion and because you start with the refrigerated pie crust dough and use canned cherries, it's quite simple and fast... sensational looking, too, don't you think? Hope you like them.
Have a great weekend, friends...
I also made these luscious chocolate cherry cupcakes.
These blueberry hand pies are pretty nice, too.
