Delightfully Decadent Homemade Irish Cream

How to Make Irish Cream

What is Irish Cream? It's an Irish drink based with cream (and Irish whiskey) and is a rather sweet drink so it is a liqueur and it was intended as a ladies' drink. The original, Bailey's, was introduced in Ireland in 1974 and today more than 160 varieties are sold and is enjoyed by both men and women. It is the #1 selling liqueur.

Fortunately for us it is easy to make and is very affordable to make also. I changed up the original recipe a little bit. Here is my recipe.

Directions for making Irish Cream

2 cups heavy cream (I used half and half cream)
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
2 cups Irish Whiskey (I used only 1 cup because I didn't want it that strong)
2 tablespoons espresso powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup

Place all in a blender. Blend for only 30 seconds. Pour in a decanter or any airtight jar. It will keep for a few weeks in the refrigerator.

ENJOY!! This was lots of fun to make (and drink). :)

I made a pretty little star - can be made with pretty scrapbook paper, a ribbon bow and a gold string. I cut the Merry Christmas sign from a Christmas card! Smart, huh? You can do it, too... the whole project is very doable. I intend to give my homemade Irish cream to some of the people on my Christmas list. Do you know anyone who would like this? Or for yourself?

Hope you are having fun this Christmas Season! Make something, people!!

Best wishes,

  2. Oooo, home made Bailey's - looks and sounds delicious! I love mine poured over ice cream, or in a glass with cold milk as it's too strong for me. (I am a complete lightweight!) The idea of home made so you can vary the amount of whiskey is a great idea.
