My Pineapple Pumpkin
For the past few months I've had a pineapple obsession, not eating pineapple but decorating with pineapples, specifically my dining room. I'll show my pineapple dining room soon but right now I want to show you how I decorated a pumpkin to LOOK like a pineapple!!!
The first thing I had to do was find a pumpkin that was shaped a little like a pineapple. It's not as easy as you would think. A lot of pumpkins are short and fat. This pumpkin had to be a taller pumpkin and not as big around. As it happens, my daughter found one at Trader Joe's. I've been looking for pumpkins all over. Our local pick-your-own farm nearby says they don't open pumpkin season until September 29th. Well, I can't wait that long. I want to work on this right away (that was the beginning of September).
Here is the original pumpkin...
I painted it yellow to start.
After it dried I used a rusty orange color marker to make cross marks on the pumpkin like a pineapple. In order to get the lines straight I used a strip of paper but it still was hard to get the lines straight. I thought I had pictures but I couldn't find them.
I had some scrapbook paper and cut it up in "leaf" shapes. I put a rubber band around the stem and I tucked the leaves into the rubber band and glued these leaves with hot glue.
Hope you enjoyed. Best wishes,
That's so cute!! #TrafficJamWeekend
